The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to suspend its planned industrial action over delayed June salary payments.
In a statement issued in Abuja, NANS Vice President for Inter-Campus and Gender Affairs, Felicia Akinbodunse, warned that any strike at this time would jeopardise the stability universities have enjoyed over the past two years.

ASUU’s National Executive Council had earlier directed branches nationwide to withdraw services if salaries were delayed beyond three days—a resolution now being enforced, with strikes already underway at the Universities of Jos and Abuja.
While ASUU says it is acting in line with union policy, NANS has urged both parties to resolve the matter through dialogue, noting students and parents cannot bear the cost of further disruption.
