NASU, SSANU To Begin Nationwide Protest Tuesday

The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU, along with the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, SSANU, have instructed their nationwide membership to mobilise for a one-day protest.

Their decision follows the recent breakdown of dialogue between the Ministers of Education and Labour, and the Joint Action Committee of the two bodies over their withheld four months’ salaries and other grievances of their members in University and Inter-University Centres.

In a circular jointly signed by the General Secretary of NASU and National President of SSANU, Peters Adeyemi, and Mohammed Ibrahim respectively, the one-day protest will be held on 9th July 2024, across the state chapters of the federation.

This will be followed by a national protest in Abuja on 18th July, after which the Joint Action Committee, JAC, of the two bodies will meet to announce a date when their strike action will commence.
