The National Assembly has amended the Electoral Act to introduce tougher penalties for electoral offences, lawmakers said. The changes aim to strengthen the legal framework ahead of future elections and plug loopholes exposed in recent polls.
The amended law expands the powers of the Independent National Electoral Commission and clarifies procedures for voter registration, results collation, and dispute resolution.
