National Assembly May Amend Finance Act Again to Address N11.03 Trillion Deficit in Proposed 2023 Budget

News - by RadioNow / Sep. 19th, 2022

Senator Sani Musa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on General Services, says the National Assembly will have to amend the Finance Act again to address the N11.03 trillion deficit proposed in the 2023 national budget.

Senator Musa, who spoke to journalists in Abuja yesterday, says the amendments will dwell on doubling and tripling targets set for revenue-generating agencies.

The Senator believes this will greatly reduce the size of the proposed budget deficit which he says is not healthy for the nation’s economy.

Senator Musa says the Senate Committee on Finance spoke against the proposed budget in a session with Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning.

The proposed budget for the 2023 fiscal year currently stands at N19.76 trillion.
