The national grid has collapsed again, according to a post from the Nigeria National Grid’s official handle on X. This marks the ninth grid collapse in 2024, with three occurring just last month.
The announcement came at around 3 PM on Tuesday, with the post stating, “BREAKING: National Grid suffers another setback. Restoration soon!”
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has not yet confirmed the cause of this latest outage, leaving many Nigerians facing uncertainty amid widespread blackouts.
Earlier in the year, on February 4, Nigeria experienced its first grid collapse of 2024, where power generation dropped sharply from 2,407MW to 31MW before shutting down completely by 1 PM.
