NATO leaders have held back on offering Ukraine an immediate invitation to join the bloc, saying the country should be able to join the military alliance in the future.
The leaders of the 31 member states came to the decision at a two-day summit in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius which began on Tuesday.

The alliance stated that Ukraine’s future is in NATO, but did not offer any timeline for the process, instead saying it will be in a position to extend an invitation to Ukraine when allies agree and conditions are met.
Meanwhile, some members including the US, UK, France, and Germany pledged fresh rounds of funding and military support for Ukraine.
