The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed 11 new cases of Lassa fever across Ondo, Edo, and Benue states, bringing the total number of infections in 2025 to 811.
According to the agency’s latest situation report covering 7th to 13th July, 152 deaths have been recorded so far this year, with a case fatality rate of 18.7%—a rise from 17.3% during the same period in 2024.

The NCDC noted that 89% of all confirmed infections have originated from five states: Ondo, Bauchi, Edo, Taraba, and Ebonyi.
The agency urged the public, media, and health workers to use the data to support wider awareness and preventive action.
The update comes amid concerns over regional disease surveillance and the need for stronger community-level health responses.
