NDDC Releases N45 billion Counterpart Funding as Agropreneur Training Begins in Rivers State

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has commenced the disbursement of its N45 billion counterpart funding, paving the way for the training of over 4,250 agropreneurs in Rivers State.

The initiative is part of a broader programme benefiting 12,750 individuals across Rivers, Imo, and Akwa Ibom states, who were previously excluded when similar training began in six other Niger Delta states six years ago.

While the first phase was backed by a $60 million International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) loan to the Federal Government, the latest tranche is being financed by the NDDC. IFAD, acting as the project’s implementing body, oversees the scheme under the Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises in the Niger Delta, LIFE-ND, initiative.

The programme aims to combat poverty and insecurity by empowering vulnerable groups, including young people, women, and persons with disabilities, with sustainable agricultural skills and economic opportunities in rural communities.
