The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, has announced plans to commence liquidation dividend payments to Heritage Bank shareholders in April.
The Acting Head of Communication and Public Affairs at the NDIC, Mrs. Hawwau Gambo, said the first tranche of payments would follow the realisation of the bank’s assets, with uninsured depositors also set to receive funds thereafter.

Heritage Bank’s banking licence was revoked by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on 3 June 2024, prompting concerns over depositor and shareholder reimbursements. The NDIC has since disbursed payments to 84 percent of depositors with BVN-linked accounts.
Mrs Gambo added that payments would be made on a pro-rata basis, in line with Section 72 of the NDIC Act 2023, and assured stakeholders of a swift disbursement process.
