NDLEA Arrests Indian Businessman and Accomplices Over ₦4bn Tramadol Haul

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested an Indian businessman and three Nigerian accomplices after seizing more than 2.2 million pills of tramadol worth nearly ₦4bn.

The shipment, disguised as multi-vitamins, arrived at Lagos airport from Delhi on September 8 aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight. NDLEA officials, who had tracked the consignment, intercepted it while suspects attempted to move the drugs out of the airport.

Follow-up raids led to the arrest of the alleged mastermind, Gupta Ravi Kumar, alongside three Nigerians. Separately, another passenger was detained at Lagos airport with cannabis hidden in crayfish, prompting further arrests.

At Tincan port, officials recovered cannabis and hashish oil from a container shipped from Canada. Additional raids on September 11 led to further arrests on Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge, underlining the NDLEA’s escalating operations against international drug syndicates.
