NEITI Says NNPCL Didn’t Remit $1.9bn To Federation Account In 2021

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) didn’t remit $1.9billion to the government’s account at the end of 2021.

This is according to an audit report of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) unveiled in Abuja yesterday.

NEITI Executive Secretary, Mr. Ogbonnaya Orji, said the organisation felt it was important to inform the public of the non-remittance.

He also noted that crude oil production dropped from 39.08 million barrels in 2020 to 37.57 million in 2021 – a reduction he attributes to reduced crude oil production in that period, affecting 29 companies.
