The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has again extended the deadline for student loan applications for the 2025 to 2026 academic session. The portal had been due to close on 27 February after a previous extension, but no new closing date has been announced.
In a statement on Monday, the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, said the extension is to allow more eligible students to complete their applications and to accommodate institutions that are just beginning the academic session or have yet to submit verified student lists.
The Fund said institutions that have not commenced the session must formally request an extension and provide their approved academic calendar for consideration. It added that the decision followed increased applications and feedback from students and stakeholders nationwide.

The scheme was established under the Access to Higher Education Act 2023, signed into law by President Bola Tinubu.
