Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned to a Tel Aviv courtroom on Wednesday for the latest hearing in his long-running corruption trial, which began in 2020. The embattled leader was greeted by protesters as he arrived with several ministers from his Likud party, maintaining a calm smile amid the jeers.
The appearance follows former US President Donald Trump’s call for Netanyahu to be pardoned in his three corruption cases and comes after the return of hostages seized by Hamas under a US-brokered peace plan. Netanyahu and his wife are accused of accepting luxury gifts from billionaires and seeking favourable media coverage.

He denies wrongdoing, calling the cases political. The Israeli premier also faces an ICC arrest warrant over alleged war crimes in Gaza, even as his judicial reforms remain deeply divisive.
