Organisers of the inaugural Niger Delta Sports Festival (NDSF) have set a 25-year age limit for participants, aiming to spotlight emerging athletic talent across the region. The festival is scheduled to take place this April in Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking in Lagos over the weekend, Mr Itiako Ikpokpo, Chairman of the Project Consultancy, explained that the restriction ensures the competition remains a platform for developing young athletes from the nine participating states.

Mr Ikpokpo, who also serves as co-chairman of the festival’s Main Organising Committee, emphasised that stringent measures have been implemented to prevent age violations, ensuring fair competition in this maiden edition.
He further highlighted the broader ambition of the NDSF—to position the Niger Delta as a leading hub for sports talent discovery in Nigeria.
