The wife of Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Bago, has donated ₦50 million to victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area.
During a visit to affected communities, she described the scale of destruction as heartbreaking, adding that the donation—made on behalf of her family—was aimed at easing the suffering of displaced residents.
Mrs Bago urged locals to avoid building on waterways and called for greater caution in vulnerable areas.

Local authorities, including the village head and council chairman, confirmed that relief efforts had begun, with distribution of aid underway.
She also noted that search and rescue operations, supported by excavators, are still ongoing to recover those reported missing.
The disaster, triggered by torrential rainfall on 29 May, claimed at least 153 lives and caused extensive damage to homes and infrastructure across the area.
