The Niger State Government has moved to settle its dispute with Badeggi FM Radio out of court, following a controversial shutdown order.
Governor Mohammed Bago had accused the station of public incitement, directing police and homeland security officials to profile its owner. The decision sparked criticism from media bodies and civil society groups.

Badeggi FM responded by filing a suit at the Minna High Court to enforce its fundamental rights. At the resumed hearing on 5 August, defence counsel Jacob Usman SAN told the court that both sides had agreed to explore an out-of-court resolution “in the interest of peace and the people of Niger State.”
The matter has been adjourned to 3 September for a progress report on the settlement talks.
