The Niger State Police Command has launched a state-wide enforcement of tinted glass permits, beginning with a major operation in Minna. The Commissioner of Police, Adamu Elleman, personally supervised the exercise at strategic locations across the city. Officers stopped vehicles with tinted windows to verify compliance with existing regulations.
The commissioner urged his personnel to act with professionalism while remaining firm, stressing that the enforcement is not punitive but a national security measure. He said criminals often exploit tinted windows to conceal their identities during unlawful activities.

Commissioner Elleman commended motorists for their cooperation on the first day of the exercise but warned that ignorance of the law will not be accepted as an excuse. He added that vehicles without valid permits would be impounded and prosecuted under the Motor Vehicle (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 2004.
