The National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, has unveiled an ambitious plan to train 50 million Nigerians and raise the nation’s digital literacy rate to 70 percent by 2027. The initiative, announced by Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi at the Digital Nigeria International Conference in Abuja, targets education, the public service, and the informal economy.
NITDA is introducing digital literacy curricula across all levels of education, training civil servants, and partnering with the National Youth Service Corps to deploy digital champions nationwide. Each state will have 460 champions training 600 citizens annually, reaching over 30 million people in three years.
