The Federal Executive Council has established a multi-ministerial committee to develop a transition and sustainability plan following U.S. President Donald Trump’s executive order to reassess foreign aid, including a 90-day pause on development assistance. The move aims to mitigate potential funding disruptions, particularly in the health sector.
After the FEC meeting, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate, announced the approval of $1.07 billion for healthcare sector reforms under the HOPE programme. The council also allocated N4.8 billion for the procurement of 150,000 HIV treatment packs over the next four months.
