A former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Adebayo Adewole, has warned that Nigeria is at risk of sliding into a one-man rule rather than a one-party state.
Speaking on a TV interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk on Thursday, Mr. Adebayo said the ruling All Progressives Congress could become the first casualty, alleging that internal party processes are weakening under centralised leadership.
Adewole said recent defections of governors, lawmakers, and other politicians to the APC reflect a broader shift in the political landscape, with the party now holding a majority across several states and in the National Assembly.

He also urged opposition parties to resolve internal disputes and strengthen unity ahead of the next general elections, warning that continued divisions could undermine democratic competition.
