The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended its condolences to the Government and people of South Korea following the tragic crash of Jeju Air Flight 2216, which claimed the lives of 179 passengers.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, expressed sympathy with the bereaved families and reaffirmed Nigeria’s solidarity with South Korea during this difficult time.

The crash occurred on Sunday, December 29, 2024, when the Boeing 737-800, returning from Bangkok, Thailand, skidded off the runway at Muan International Airport in southern South Korea. The aircraft collided with a wall and burst into flames, leaving only two survivors out of the 181 passengers and crew on board.
Describing the incident as a tragic loss, the Nigerian Government offered its heartfelt support to South Korea and called for global efforts to enhance aviation safety standards to prevent such disasters.
