Nigeria Customs Intercepts Arms, Ammunition Shipments

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it intercepted 31 rifles shipped in from the United States in the first two weeks of this month.

Speaking at a news conference in Lagos on Monday, the Acting Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, stated that customs officers had uncovered smuggled arms and ammunition while on duty at various commands and formations.

According to Mr Adeniyi, an inspection of a 40-foot container uncovered brand new weapons, including three Pump Action rifles and one rifle, different pistols and empty magazines and rounds of live ammunition.
