Nigeria has significantly reduced its debt servicing burden under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, according to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.
Speaking at the Inter-Parliamentary Union and United Nations General Assembly 2025 Parliamentary Hearing in New York, Mr. Kalu stated that debt servicing had fallen from 96% of revenue in 2023 to 67% within just over a year.

A statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, quoted the Deputy Speaker as saying that the development has created fiscal space for critical investments in health, education, and infrastructure, key sectors for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
