Nigeria’s African Nations Championship hopes have been rocked by injury, forcing head coach Eric Chelle to recall 16-year-old goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt for Tuesday’s must-win game against Sudan.
Harcourt, who helped the Flying Eagles reach last month’s WAFU B U20 Cup final, replaces injured first-choice Ani Ozoemena. Ani was sidelined after a pre-match knock ahead of the 1-0 loss to Senegal, where deputy Mustapha Lawal’s error proved costly.

Originally named in Coach Chelle’s provisional squad but dropped for the final list, Harcourt now joins Lawal and Badmus Nurudeen in Zanzibar.
Coach Chelle insists the setback will not derail Nigeria’s campaign, promising a strong response.
The match, a repeat of the 2018 CHAN semi-final Nigeria won 1-0, kicks off at 6pm Nigerian time at the Amaan Stadium.
