The Nigerian government is engaging the United States through diplomatic channels following recent military threat statements by US President Donald Trump. Minister of Information Mohammed Idris told Sky News that communication lines are active and proving effective, stressing that much of the concern stems from a misunderstanding of Nigeria’s security challenges.
Idris clarified that Nigeria has not lost territory to Boko Haram and described the fight against insurgency as unconventional. He also alleged links between US lobby groups and proscribed separatist elements, claiming misinformation may have influenced US perceptions.
