The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention says strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system is critical for improving outbreak preparedness across the continent. The call was made in Abuja during the unveiling of Africa’s public health emergency roadmap.
The agency’s national coordinator in Nigeria, Oluyinka Olayemi, said Nigeria’s ability to detect and respond to disease outbreaks has significant implications for regional health security, urging stronger coordination across all levels of government.
Officials from eHealth Africa said the new roadmap is designed to improve early detection and rapid response through collaboration with partners, including the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and the World Health Organisation. They noted that implementation remains a major challenge despite existing policies.
