Nigeria Launches New Training Programme for Technical Teachers

The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the start of the 2025/2026 Technical Teachers Training Programme, TTTP, a tuition-free, one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Education designed to upskill teachers handling technical and vocational subjects nationwide.

Unveiled in Abuja by the Department of Technology and Science Education, the initiative is part of renewed efforts to revitalise Technical and Vocational Education and Training, TVET, and align classroom delivery with current industry demands.

The programme targets public secondary school teachers with at least five years left before retirement.

Applications open from 8 to 21 July 2025, with the inaugural cohort to be hosted by six universities, including ABU Zaria and UNN Nsukka.

The Ministry advised applicants to apply via the website education.gov.ng, warning that multiple submissions would lead to disqualification.
