The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has revealed that Nigeria lost over $500 million to cybercrime in 2022. He issued a stark warning that if this trend continues unchecked, the nation could face serious consequences.

Speaking at the 2024 National Cybersecurity Summit in Abuja on Tuesday, Mr. Olukoyede emphasized that cybercrime has become a major issue for the country, contributing to a large portion of the 3,455 convictions secured by the EFCC during his first year in office.
