The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited says Nigeria’s crude oil production has risen to a peak of 1.84 million barrels per day in 2025, up from 960,000 barrels per day recorded in 2022. The increase was disclosed on Wednesday, April 9, 2026, at a parliamentary roundtable on pipeline security in Abuja.
The Group Chief Executive Officer, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, said average daily production now stands at 1.71 million barrels, attributing the growth to improved pipeline security in the Niger Delta. He said the strategy combines policy coordination, intelligence gathering, security operations, and community-based surveillance.
According to the company, efforts to curb oil theft and pipeline vandalism have helped restore investor confidence in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. The roundtable was convened by the National Assembly to review progress and address challenges affecting production.
