Nigeria Police Cybercrime Centre Recovers Over ₦8 Billion in 2024, Rated Best in Africa

The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, announced a major breakthrough in combating cybercrime, recovering over ₦8 billion and $115,000 in 2024.  

Force PRO Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed on Tuesday that the NPF Cybercrime Unit’s operations led to 751 arrests and subsequent prosecutions. Recovered funds have been returned to victims, underscoring the force’s dedication to justice and safeguarding citizens.

The unit seized 685 devices linked to cybercrimes, including 467 mobile phones, 137 laptops, 46 routers, four servers, a drone, and four Starlink devices.  

Highlighting its achievements, the National Cybercrime Center was named Africa’s Best Cybercrime Unit for 2024 by INTERPOL’s Cybercrime Directorate in Singapore, triumphing over 54 nations.
