Nigeria has been ranked 140th out of 180 countries on the 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index, according to a new report by Transparency International. The country has made a slight improvement, moving up five positions compared to last year’s ranking and ten spots compared to 2022.
Denmark topped the global list with the least perceived corruption, scoring 90 points, followed by Finland at 88 points and Singapore in third with 84 points. Meanwhile, South Sudan, Somalia, and Venezuela were identified as the most corrupt countries globally.

In Africa, Cape Verde led the continent, though it was ranked 35th globally with 62 points. No African nation made it into the top 10, which was dominated by European countries. Nigeria, with a score of 26 points, shared the 140th position with Uganda, Mexico, Madagascar, Iraq, and Cameroon.
