Nigeria remains committed to peace and stability in West Africa say VP Shettima 

Vice President Kashim Shettima says Nigeria remains committed to peace and stability across the West African region. He delivered the message in Abidjan during the inauguration of President Alassane Ouattara, where he represented President Bola Tinubu and conveyed the president’s congratulations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shettima expressed confidence in President Ouattara’s leadership and said Nigeria would continue to strengthen regional partnerships on security, prosperity and development. He added that Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire intend to deepen economic cooperation, particularly in agriculture and trade.

The inauguration at the Presidential Palace drew leaders from across Africa, including the presidents of South Africa, Liberia, Senegal, Gambia, Angola and Ghana, as well as former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan. The United States was represented by Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg.
