Nigeria to Get 500 CNG Refuelling Stations Nationwide

The Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF) has concluded an agreement with Chinese manufacturer Endurance Group to establish 500 Compressed Natural Gas refuelling stations across Nigeria over the next three years. The announcement was made during a briefing in Abuja by MDGIF Executive Director, Oluwole Adama.

The collaboration involves the creation of a government-backed Special Purpose Vehicle promoted by MDGIF, the Bank of Industry, Endurance Group, and Séquor Investment Partners. Adama said the initiative will establish the Compressed Natural Gas Auto Mobility Infrastructure Company, or CAM InfraCo, to deploy the refuelling stations, develop LCNG gas supply infrastructure, and provide transportation trucks to form a virtual pipeline nationwide.

Senior Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties and Domestic Affairs, Oluwatoyin Subair, said the project supports President Bola Tinubu’s vision of energy security by promoting the use of auto CNG and reducing dependence on petrol and diesel, particularly in the transportation sector. He added that the project will also create jobs within the domestic gas value chain.

Endurance Group CEO, Eric Lin, explained that CAM InfraCo will lease CNG-related equipment to certified operators while ensuring reliable supply through a national virtual pipeline. The plan targets underserved northern regions and rapidly growing southern clusters, aiming to expand access to refuelling points and improve logistics and distribution across all states.
