Nigeria has secured a major legal victory in an international arbitration case involving a UK-based technology contractor, European Dynamics UK Ltd. An arbitration tribunal dismissed all claims brought against Nigeria, ending a dispute tied to a national e-Procurement project managed by the Bureau of Public Procurement.
The ruling shields the Federal Government from potential financial exposure of more than $6.2 million (about ₦9.3 billion). Special Assistant to the President on Communication and Publicity in the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, Kamarudeen Ogundele, described the decision as final and not subject to appeal.
The dispute arose over payments and contract performance for the e-Procurement system. European Dynamics UK Ltd had sought payments for alleged milestone completions and damages, but the tribunal found no basis for the claims and rejected them in full.
In a statement, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, welcomed the award and said the outcome sends a strong message about Nigeria’s resolve to protect public resources in international disputes.
