Nigeria wins boys’ U-15 and U-19 gold at African Youth Table Tennis

Team Nigeria have claimed gold in both the boys’ U-15 and U-19 events at the 2025 ITTF African Youth Table Tennis Championships. The finals took place on Tuesday at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

In the U-19 final, Nigeria defeated Tunisia, with Abdulbasit Abdulfatai sealing the win with a 3-0 victory over Mohamed Khaloufi. The win also secured Nigeria a spot at the ITTF World Youth Championship in Romania.

In the U-15 category, Nigeria edged past Egypt 3-2 in a tightly contested match, with a team made up of Joseph Marvelous, Adeoye Hussein, Adebakin Tobi, and Joseph Victor. However, in the U-19 girls’ final, Nigeria lost 3-0 to Egypt, who claimed their fourth straight team title.

Elsewhere, Uganda made history by winning the U-15 girls’ event for the first time, coming from behind to defeat Tunisia 3-2 in a dramatic final.
