Nigerian Air Force Orders Probe into Katsina Airstrike Tragedy

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has launched an investigation into a tragic airstrike in Katsina State that reportedly claimed civilian lives.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday at Yauni Hill in Zakka Ward, Safana Local Government Area, allegedly killed a family of six and another individual. Reports indicate the strike was aimed at bandits but mistakenly hit civilians.

NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, said on Monday that the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, had ordered a full inquiry into what he described as “distressing claims.”

He explained that the airstrike was based on intelligence about an attack on a Mobile Police Force unit, where bandits had already killed two officers and four vigilantes.

Akinboyewa assured the public that the NAF remains committed to uncovering the truth amid growing concerns over civilian casualties.
