Bamidele Oluwatope, the Nigerian comic actor popularly known as Okemesi, has died at the age of 46 following complications from medication. His colleague Jeff ‘Tony Montana’ Owolewa confirmed the death on social media, stating the actor was pronounced dead at 11:50 am on 24 February 2026.
Okemesi had slipped into a coma on Tuesday after being hospitalised over the weekend. He was admitted to a private hospital in Lagos and placed on oxygen, but never regained consciousness.
Earlier in February, the actor had made a public appeal for help, revealing he was homeless and facing severe personal and health challenges. He described suffering a spiritual attack that left him temporarily incapacitated.
