Nigerian Film Industry Sees Box Office Revenue Surge by 60% in 2024

The Nigerian film industry has recorded an impressive 60% growth in Box Office revenue for 2024, according to the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria, CEAN.  

Ope Ajayi, CEAN’s National Chairman, disclosed this development during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.  

Ajayi revealed that cinemas across the country generated N11.5 billion from ticket sales in 2024, a substantial increase from the N7.2 billion recorded in 2023.

Attendance figures also saw a modest rise, with 2.66 million moviegoers visiting cinemas in 2024 compared to 2.54 million in the previous year.  

This growth underscores the expanding appeal of Nigerian cinema and its potential as a significant contributor to the nation’s economy.
