The Nigerian Guild of Editors has condemned what it described as the deliberate targeting and killing of journalists in Gaza by Israeli forces. The group listed five journalists, including reporters with Reuters, Al Jazeera and Middle East Eye, who were killed in recent strikes. It said the attacks violate the Geneva Conventions and amount to war crimes intended to silence reporting from conflict zones.
The Guild called for immediate investigations and accountability, urging the international community to protect press freedom globally.

It also criticised the arrest and harassment of Nigerian journalists, including Media Room Hub publisher Azuka Ogujiuba, by police. The editors’ body demanded that the Inspector-General of Police halt intimidation and respect constitutional rights.
The Guild reaffirmed its solidarity with journalists at home and abroad, praising their courage in covering wars and sensitive issues.
