Ten Nigerian startups have secured $220,000 in funding through the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority’s third annual Prize for Innovation, held in Abuja over the weekend.
The winners, selected from more than 5,000 applicants, presented solutions in healthcare, education, agriculture, and sustainability. D-Olivette Labs took top honours with a combined $115,000 prize for its AI-powered biodigesters that convert waste into energy. Promise Point, a woman-led cassava processor, and health-tech firm GeroCare followed with $85,000 and $55,000 respectively.

The awards, supported by Draper University, PVAC and Cascador, include grants, equity funding, and international training. Additional recognition went to Mediverse, Sosocare, and FriendsnPal for sector-specific innovations.
NSIA CEO Aminu Umar-Sadiq described the prize as a platform for scaling impactful ideas, while Finance Minister Wale Edun urged the entrepreneurs to focus on long-term implementation and real-world outcomes.
