The Association of Nigerian Professionals in Europe (ANPE) has called on President Bola Tinubu to investigate the alleged importation of adulterated petrol into Nigeria. In a statement issued on Wednesday, ANPE President Solomon Ola highlighted the potential risks such imports pose to the nation’s economy and international relations.
Mr. Ola warned that importing tainted petrol, allegedly linked to Russian-sourced crude products, could have severe diplomatic consequences pointing out that such imports might violate sanctions imposed by the price cap coalition, which includes the European Union, United States, G7, and Australia.
The ANPE president expressed concern over the quality of petroleum products entering the country, arguing that substandard fuels rejected by other African nations should not be accepted in Nigeria. He accused local collaborators of working with European firms to profit at the expense of Nigerian citizens.
Mr. Ola urged the federal government to take swift action, emphasising the need for stricter regulations and accountability in the nation’s fuel importation processes to protect its citizens and economy from exploitation.
