Nigerian U20 Player Daniel Daga Jailed in Norway for Sexual Assault

A Norwegian court has sentenced a Nigerian under-20 footballer, Daniel Daga, to six months in prison after finding him guilty of sexual assault.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who plays for Molde FK, was convicted by the Romsdal District Court on Tuesday over an incident involving a woman in April last year.

The court also ordered Daga to pay 10,000 Norwegian kroner in legal costs. He was formally charged on 19 December 2025.

Daga’s lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, says the player maintains the encounter was consensual and will appeal the verdict. Molde FK has confirmed he has been suspended from the team pending the outcome of the legal process.
