Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has warned that Nigerians will no longer accept technical glitches in future elections. He spoke on Monday during the Occupy National Assembly protest in Abuja.
Mr Obi led supporters and civil society groups to demand amendments to the Electoral Act 2022. The proposed changes would make it mandatory for election results to be transmitted in real time from polling units to the Independent National Electoral Commission result viewing portal, known as IReV.

Referring to the 2023 presidential election, Mr Obi said technology-related problems undermined public confidence in the process. He urged lawmakers to pass the amendment ahead of the next general elections, saying transparent polls would produce outcomes accepted by all and prevent disputes caused by avoidable technical failures.
