Nigeria’s petrol consumption fell sharply in June, with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority reporting a drop to 1.44bn litres from 1.76bn litres in May — a 16.4% decline.
Daily fuel evacuation averaged just over 48 million litres, while diesel supply edged up 1.7% to 432.18m litres. Household kerosene fell 13%, and automotive gasoline saw the steepest drop — nearly 48%.

Lagos received the largest share at 205.66m litres, followed by Ogun, the Federal Capital Territory and Oyo. Officials say the decline reflects ongoing challenges in the sector.
Meanwhile, oil marketers cut depot prices after Dangote Refinery reduced its pump price to ₦820 per litre. Bovas and MRS dropped to ₦825, while Sobaz and Matrix posted smaller reductions.
