The national handball team has arrived in Lomé, Togo, to compete in the Zonal International Handball Federation (IHF) Championship. Nigeria’s U-18 side has been placed in Group B alongside Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger, while in the U-20 category, Nigeria will also compete in Group B, where they face the Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso. The 5-day tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the African Handball Nations Cup.
Coach Rafiu Salami confirmed that all invited players are fit and ready for the competition at the Palais des Sports de Lomé. The competition begins today till Saturday.
Players in the U-18 squad include Friday Shuaibu, Shaibu Mohammed, Aliyu Rufai, Sani Muntari, Usman Umar, Godstime Michael, Huzaifa Abdulkadir, Chidebere Davine, Hamza Yahaya, Mohammed Yahaya, Umar Mohammed, Abubakar Abdullahi, Akibu Mohammed and Obeze Akunebu.

The U-20 team features Attahiru Ab Sahabi and Obabori Samuel Aduralere as goalkeepers, Ganiu Aduragbemi Emmanuel, Isyaka Mustapha, and David Mause in right back, with Kareem Faruk Olamilekan, Akanni Basit, Fashogbon Sulaimon, Mohammed Musa, Jackson Nelson, and Abode Temitope among others.
