Nigeria’s Oil Output Rises to 1.7 Million Barrels Daily says NUPRC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited says the country’s crude oil production has increased to 1.7 million barrels per day, with plans to hit 2 million barrels by 2027 and 3 million in the long term.

The Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Ojulari, announced this at the “Energy Talk” session of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference. He noted that the recent improvement follows months of fluctuating output levels, which had dropped as low as 1.3 million barrels per day earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, has commended the progress on the EMEM Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel in Dubai. The facility, built for Oriental Energy Resources, will soon sail to Nigeria’s Okwok Field to support increased oil output.

Komolafe said the project aligns with Nigeria’s “One Million Barrels” initiative aimed at boosting production capacity. He also encouraged Oriental Energy to participate in upcoming licensing rounds to expand investment in the nation’s oil and gas sector.
