The leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has returned to the Federal High Court in Abuja for his hearing on treason charges. The case is now before a new judge, Justice James Omotosho.
There has also been a change in Kanu’s legal team, with senior lawyer Kanu Agabi now leading the defence. The prosecution remains under Adegboyega Awomolo.

At the hearing, Agabi apologised on Kanu’s behalf, saying it was necessary to make amends with Justice Binta Nyako, the prosecution, and his legal representatives.
Awomolo, while accepting the apology, said the prosecution would work towards an expedited trial, acknowledging the sensitivity of the case.
