The Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on all seven counts of terrorism filed against him by the Federal Government. Justice James Omotosho delivered the judgment on Thursday, stating that the prosecution established its case beyond reasonable doubt.
The judge held that Kanu failed to respond to broadcast allegations and did not enter any defence. He ruled that prosecution evidence showed Kanu ordered the sit-at-home directives in the South East and made broadcasts containing threats that people would die and that the world would come to a standstill.

Justice Omotosho said the defendant was aware of his actions and intended to carry out the threats without regard for the lives of residents in the region. He added that the unrebutted evidence before the court proved that Kanu engaged in preparatory acts of terrorism.
The court has gone on break and is expected to return to deliver Kanu’s sentence later today.
