A Department of State Services, DSS, officer testified on Tuesday that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, admitted during interrogation to urging attacks on police personnel.
The witness, identified only as “BBB”, told the Federal High Court in Abuja that Mr. Kanu confirmed the authenticity of Radio Biafra broadcasts in which he allegedly incited violence.
The DSS official, who took Mr. Kanu’s statement in July 2021, said the recordings were played in the presence of the IPOB leader’s legal representatives, including Aloy Ejimakor.

He also described IPOB’s Eastern Security Network, ESN, as a paramilitary arm and asserted that Radio Biafra operated without a National Broadcasting Commission licence.
The prosecution attempted to admit video evidence and a letter from the Attorney General, but defence lawyer Kanu Agabi objected, citing lack of disclosure.
Justice James Omotosho adjourned the trial to 7 May, ordering full document disclosure to the defence.
