The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has officially unveiled the Utapate crude oil blend to the international crude oil market. The announcement, made at the Argus European Crude Conference in London, marks a significant milestone for Nigeria’s crude oil production and export.
In a statement by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, NNPCL noted that the Utapate blend has been well-received globally for its attractive qualities. This development, according to NNPCL, will enhance Nigeria’s crude oil revenue and contribute to economic growth.
NNPC E&P Limited (NEPL) Managing Director, Nicholas Foucart, described the launch as a landmark achievement. He revealed that since its introduction in July 2024, the Utapate blend has gained strong international demand. The first cargo of 950,000 barrels, produced in partnership with Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company (SEEPCO) Ltd, was exported to Spain earlier this year.
